Save The Date For 2024 Planetary Health Summit & 6th Annual Meeting

The Story Behind Planetary Health Annual Meeting (PHAM)
The Planetary Health Annual Meeting Malaysia (PHAM) is a global convening of scientists, policymakers, educators, young leaders, the private sector, and concerned planetary citizens. Held every 18 months, it aims to connect the global Planetary Health community, seek solutions for the grand challenges facing humanity, and provide tools and drivers to support systemic change. Its past five events have brought together thousands of leaders from over 130 countries in gatherings held in the United States, Scotland, and Brazil.
Recognizing the key role that Asia plays in addressing Planetary Health challenges and solutions, PHAM 2024 was the first of its kind to be held in Southeast Asia. Malaysia proudly hosted this international gathering with the theme “From Evidence to Action: Confronting Reality”, led by the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health at Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur. The meeting highlighted the urgent need for collaborative action, research, and innovation to address global challenges including Climate Change and create a more sustainable future.
Catalyzing Action in
Planetary Health
The 2024 Planetary Health Summit and 6th Annual Meeting recognizes and embraces the fact that its roots in academia now position it to become a transformative platform for global action. To rise to this challenge, Planetary Health must continue to evolve into a transdisciplinary field grounded in partnerships, collaboration, and collective efforts with other health-based solution movements such as One Health and Environmental Health.
The summit highlights the importance of connecting regional and global initiatives, including those led by regional organizations, the United Nations, and international sustainability frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By strengthening collaboration across sectors, the event aims to support innovative approaches to addressing complex challenges including Climate Change, environmental sustainability, and human well-being.
In this 6th installation of the Planetary Health Annual Meeting Malaysia, the message is clear: for science to be transformational, it must be crafted for action and communicated in ways that the public can understand and decision-makers can act on. Through knowledge exchange, partnerships, and evidence-based solutions, the summit advances efforts to build a healthier and more resilient future.
